It was founded, notably by the European Franchise Federation (EFF) as well as the International Franchise Association (IFA) and other franchise associations for the following purpose: to encourage international understanding and cooperation in the protection and promotion of franchising worldwide. The WFC has defined Principles of Ethics for Franchising which serve as the foundations for the protection and promotion of ethical franchising which is the real key to its development.
